Biography

Niko Myller has a BsC, MsC and PhD in Computer Science from University of Joensuu (now known as University of Eastern Finland). During and after his PhD studies, he worked as an enterpreneur building a company called SN4 International Ltd with a team for more than 10 years and sold it to a leading European data and analytics company Bisnode in 2015. He worked for Bisnode Finland for more than 5 years in different leading roles as Head of Analytics and Director of Operations where he supervised different functions such as Customer Care, Data, Analytics and Development, and he was also a member of the leadership team.
Niko has also published more than 50 publications in different scientific venues on research fields such as Computer Science Education, Educational Technology, Information Retrieval, Machine Learning, Information Visualization. His research interests lie in the same areas.



Teaching

I teach a first year course Introduction to Engineering (Insinöörityön perusteet). My interest in the course and my teaching is to link the studies and the industry closely together. This is achieved with various invited lectures and covering of selected topics related to key processes and concepts that needs to be learned and utilized both in studies and in working life. Furthermore, the course that I teach includes collaborative team work based assignments where dfiferent kinds of open-ended problems are solved with engineering skills which supports the concepts that are learned in the lectures.
